Mr. Simon Talbot
I am an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in the treatment of knee and hip problems.
I completed my medical degree from Otago Medical School in New Zealand in 1994, and my training as an orthopaedic surgeon from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2004.
In 2006 and 2007 I undertook additional training in hip and knee surgery in Melbourne and Europe.
I settled in Melbourne in 2007. Since then I have shared rooms with Mr John Bartlett at 1/210 Burgundy St in Heidelberg. I am currently working at Warringal Private Hospital (Heidelberg), Vimy House Hospital (Kew) and Western Hospital (Footscray).
The majority of my practice involves the treatment of knee injuries and arthritis affecting hips and knees. My most common operations include knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery), cruciate ligament reconstruction, patella stabilisation, knee replacement and hip replacement.
I base my work on the highest professional and ethical standards. I place particular emphasis on the importance of open and honest communication between myself and my patients.
I have a strong interest in research as a way of both constantly auditing and improving my own results and a way of contributing to future advances in orthopaedic surgery. My current research projects are focused on improving the positioning of knee replacements and measuring patient function after hip or knee replacement.
My consulting rooms at 1/210 Burgundy Street are staffed 5 days a week during normal office hours by three friendly and professional secretaries – Loda, Jo and Ros.
